"2002 CROWSNEST MUD BOG"

What a fantastic weekend. We camped beside a graveyard……….as did all racers….

The Crowsnest Bushwackers certainly know how to put a mud bog event on. We had an incredible weekend and look forward to next year’s event. It was a new group of guys organizing and they did a great job. I’m sure next year’s will only be better (water. water and more mud J). We were so flattered to be on their promo poster made up by Kevin Yeliga. Thanks J. Met a slew of very cool people. First encounter was with Aaron and Ashley from Edmonton. They e-mailed us about a month ago. Embarrassed to say I did not recall as we get so many e-mails from you guys out there. I couldn’t believe they made the 7-hour trip down from Edmonton because we had mentioned to them, we would be there and this was a great event to attend. Wow! As it turned out, they took first first in the super mod class. Awesome!!! They are a great couple. As it turned out, there were quite a few out of towners we came across, - from Catlesgard, BC to Moose Jaw, Sask. All these people drove over 8 eights to check the bog out!!!!!! The attendance was overwhelming..  counted as over 2200 spectators

The pit was very gooey and well worked.  There were 5 rail car entries. Beautiful. Some of these guys were pushing 2000 horsepower. Unreal and striking to watch them perform.  Their class went first. Next, came our class. There were 9 entries. Lucky me (NOT) was the first to get a go at the pit. A virgin pit, hmmm. I was surprised I got through at the first shot, as the pit was at least 3 feet deep. Mike form the Boggin freaks was thirds and worked it well. Robin was last and took the lead. That’s how it usually works in a bog.

The last to go has the best chance I did 22.4 seconds on my first run, Mike had 22.6 and Rob came in at 12.6 seconds

After his run, I noticed he did in a rear axle. So we spent the intermission time changing it. Thanks to those who helped.  The pit had dried out and it was more of a drag race than a bog at this time. Rob was first to go and came in at a smoking 10.2 seconds. I was to be last as the order reversed. This was my chance to kick his butt. When it came to be my turn the truck wouldn’t start. NO!!!!!!!!!!!. Got a pull to get it started and then we lost the hood pins…. So stuck some pieces of wood in to keep the hood down. My turn.,…… yes!! . The start felt real nice but about ¾ ways through I felt the truck bogging and pulling way to the left. Shit!!!! I busted a right stub shaft and hub. There went my chance at first. Finished the run at 8.81 seconds. Which was 0.81 seconds behind first. Not a bad finish with 3-wheel drive. Had a blast!!! Went to check out the Thunder in the Valley fireworks after the bog. The area puts on a weekend of a show. Thanks for a great time and looking forward to next year’s…

PS- the rails were awesome- ( Rusty- Hairy Canary, Short Stroke ( the green machine) and Blue  Thunder)  as we said some vids of your runs are on here but if you want the better quality vids on cd drop me an e-mail me. Great show guys :)

Here;s the vid that sums up the weekend
