"Sunday's Cut Line-The Trap"

Sunday,Sept 14/03,  after the AURS Clean up, 3 of us( The Knight, Wolf359 and Big "D") decided to try a pretty nasty cut line with what I am told about a 42 degree incline. The washout on the one kilometer cut line could fit a vehicle inside of it no problem. We did fine on the washout but up the last part of the hill , the bracket off the link sheared off which made the link go and shifted the diff sideways. Carnage- front pinion, bent the king coil over rod. The base metal on the bracket should have been thicker material and was the only one that was not gusseted. I guess that's what working out the bugs on a new truck means. We should have also checked over the truck after Showdown. We didn't. Them's the breaks and you learn from it. We broke 15 feet from the top. One thing I'd like to add is, fuel injection rules and is now on next year's wish list. The carb was crapping out on the last part. Wolf359 was fuel injected . What a difference.

It was fun trying it . All the trucks did a great job at it and we look forward to trying it again. Thanks to everyone for the help getting the Knight back to camp. The guys did an awesome trail fix and we were able to driver her back.

Hmmmm, maybe we could make a similar course for next year's Showdown and call it the "Hill Climb" :)

Here are a couple of vids of the 3 trucks going down through the wash out portion.
