"CJA Show N Shine -July 21/2001"

July 21/2001 we went to the Calgary Jeep Association Show N Shine. I believe
they had about 40 some odd 4x4's show up. Nicely organized with a few extras
thrown in. The trucks were shiny and clean . They had a 23 degree RTI ramp which
we all tried. The Knight did the ramp and as we already knew we have a stiff
suspension ( for performance in the mud pits) but it was fun to give it a shot
:). They also had a tire pile that everyone would drive through after doing the
ramp. They piled the tires as high as they could for the Knight but it was no
problem :). A few trucks got stuck in the pile which was fun to see. They also
had a dunk tank. A few people took turns and got a little wet. Christina from
the Calgary women's bobsled team brought her bobsled . Interesting to sit in
one. Wolf359 held on to his title at the RTI ramp.
Dr. Tom once again was #2 :).I'd have to say the highlight of the event was when
Tim decided to ramp his hummer. First time I've seen a hummer roll onto it's
side. A hummer has a very stiff suspension. He
drove onto the ramp, got out and tried to teeter totter it ( as I've seen it do
before) but I guess this time he pushed it a tad too much :). After the show n
shine a bunch of us headed to hooters for a bite. Then off to the second 4x4 cruise
organized by willys and bocephus. About twenty or so trucks paraded
downtown and headed off to willys burger joint. Another fun day.
Would like to thank the Calgary jeep Association for a great show. As well they
will be donating part of their registration proceeds to the Alberta United
Recreationists Trails Fund.
