"August Long '01"

This was the first time ever we went out wheeling without the
"knight". It was strange being a "looker" more so than a
"doer". I'd have to say that I missed it, especially at
Johnston"s mud pit. We still had a great time. It was more of a relaxing
long weekend.
We rented an "Argo". What's an argo? I guess I could best describe it
as an 8 wheel amphibious OHV vehicle (sort of an eight wheel quad that can also
floats). You can run it on OHV trails as well as a boat, I guess. This thing
floats in the water. Trail ride, fish and head back to camp. We didn't actually
take it out on the lake but crossed some rivers where we felt it float. It was
quite neat. It also turns on a dime. Pulled a few donuts with it :). Even the
kids (Steven-11 years old and Jennifer- 7 years old) drove it
We camped out with Tim (cruiser on 44's, Dave (toy on 35's), Shane (Bronco 32's)
, Cody (Taco on 33's) and Clint with his new Jeep Comanche on 35's. Friday night
was quite warm so we did a night run. We were surprised but the Argo did really
well. It can't go into deep mud holes as it gets high centered but it can go
almost anywhere. It fits between trees and can run the trails as long as you
ride the ruts.
Saturday was a day run on Meadow Creek./Lost knife trail. Tried some steep
hills. Pictures don't do justice to hills. The perception never comes out like
being there. It was fun. Clint was overheating so we headed back to camp but had
a good 6 hours of trail riding.
On Sunday Deejay showed up. He had his Bronco on 40's. Littlechief with his
Cherokee also showed. We did part of meadow creek but veered off to some trail
that wasn't even on the map. Very steep. Forgot my camera that day so I don't
have pictures of Sunday's trail ride. Little chief blew a u-joint on his rear
drive shaft after hopping up and down the steep hill. You gotta let off the gas
when climbing. Beautiful view once we got to the top.
It was a good weekend with great weather.

Pretty cool- met up with some horseback riders on trail
And yes, when camping you do with what you have as Tammy and Shane are demonstrating :)
