Air Liquide's TI90 Lift Welding Machine
As a four wheeler, fabrication/welding is a must to modify
and/or mend your 4x4 rig. That is something we can attest to from our experience
on building the White Knight. The project always seems to be done, but it really
never is. From our encounters on wheeling trips or events, we always found a
portable welder to be a necessity. We’ve hauled big generators and welders to
accommodate our needs but you always run into a lack of room and it can get
quite expensive.. We wondered what else is available that would make life
easier. Through our experience a name we have trusted is AIR LIQUIDE. Air
Liquide is known worldwide for supplying the welding as well as other industries
with an array of gas products. Their network of welding outlets also carries
welding equipment .Service and availability is a non-issue as they are world
wide. - Founded in 1902, Air Liquide operates in 60 countries through 125
subsidiaries and employs more than 30,000 people.
Now for a little history on Air Liquide Canada -In 1910, Air Liquide sent R.J.
Lévy to Canada to set up operations there. He evaluated the potential and
purchased land in the eastern outskirts of Montreal on the corner of Viau and
Rouen streets. By the spring of 1911, the first oxygen plant in Canada began
production. Within another five years, Air Liquide Canada had built six more
plants all across the country, from Halifax to Vancouver. The company was also
at the forefront of welding technology. Several key steps were made during the
1920’s: Air Liquide Canada began to manufacture flux-coated electrodes – the
first enterprise to do so in North-America. In the 40s, the company opened
Canada’s first welding and gas applications research laboratory, as well as a
state-of-the-art welding electrode plant, and the world’s largest oxygen plant.
Air Liquide Canada has continued as the country’s leading gas and welding
supplier. It has always been at the cutting edge of the industry, as a
pacesetter in delivering quality gas and welding products, as well as designing
leading-edge gas applications and welding technologies.

Now back to our affordable portable welder search. After a
conversation with our Air Liquide representative it was clear the TI90 Lift
would be the machine to meet our needs. The TI90 is designed for portability and
performance. It is lightweight, compact and packaged in an easy to carry case.
It plugs into a standard 120V AC receptacle. With an output range of 5 to 90 A,
the TI90 Lift allows you to weld electrodes up to 2.5mm ( 3/32 in) . It allows
easy polarity reversal. With the optional TIG torch, this unit is capable of DC
lift TIG. Some of it’s features include 110 volt input connection, Anti-stick,
arc start and arc force, lift TIG, Thermostatic protection, Input-line voltage
regulation, three years parts and labour warranty. With a small portable
generator this unit can be functional at your campsite. It also works great if
you don’t have 220 in your garage. Weighing in at only 7 lbs and measuring
8.25x4.5x11.5, it is as portable as a welder can be with STICK and TIG
processes. The TI 90 has allowed us to do many tasks on the rig. We have used it
to weld all our zeus fasteners, oil pan modifications, floor pan etc etc. If you
are in the market for a welder that offers portability at an affordable price,
you need to look no further than the TI90. It is a perfect machine for the
hobbyist.
